Baldness

Male Baldness

  • Hair follicles are moved from one area of the head to another, where hair is thinning or receding, during a hair transplant. Hair follicles are removed from the back of the scalp, the “donor site,” and then placed in the “receiver site,” which is bald or thinning and in need of hair. Permanent follicular units are removed during this procedure from the safe zone, which is the back or sides of the scalp. Then, to create a genuine hairline, these units are delicately and meticulously placed into the balding or thinning region at the precise angle, depth, and direction of the existing ones. An essential component of a hair transplant operation is creating a frontal hairline that looks natural. In all of our methods, we strive to accomplish the same thing.
  • Although both men and women of any age can be good candidates for a hair transplant, usually speaking more men than women elect to have one. To be eligible for a hair transplant, you must have sufficient, healthy hair on your scalp that can be moved to the area that needs hair. You need to be able to grow hair on the area of your scalp that is losing hair. A hair transplant conducted as a day procedure under local anaesthesia could take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours to complete, depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted.

You must have enough, healthy hair on your scalp that can be transplanted to the area that needs hair in order to be a candidate for a hair transplant. On the part of your scalp where hair is falling out, you must be able to develop new hair. Depending on the quantity of grafts to be transplanted, a hair transplant performed as a day surgery under local anaesthesia could take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours to complete.
  • FUE hair transplantation has no notable side effects or problems. Within 24 hours, each graft site forms a little crusty growth known as a scab, which peels off after two weeks. The transplanted hair will start to grow naturally 12 to 16 weeks after the procedure, and it will continue to grow for the bulk of one’s lifetime. You’ll be able to immediately notice the contour of your new hairline following your FUE operation. The freshly transplanted hair does not entirely regrow for six to twelve months. The FUE Hair transplant method is very well accepted and practically completely risk-free.

Female Baldness

  • Causes A follicle is a small opening in the skin where each individual hair strand resides. In general, baldness happens as a result of the hair follicle shrinking and becoming finer and shorter over time. The follicle eventually stops producing new hair. The fact that the follicles are still alive means that fresh hair can still grow. Although the cause of female pattern baldness is unclear, it could be caused by:
    • Aging
    • Changes in the levels of androgens (hormones that can stimulate male features)
    • Family history of male or female pattern baldness
    • Heavy loss of blood during menstrual periods
    • Certain medicines, such as estrogenic oral contraceptive

    Symptoms

Hair thinning is different from that of male pattern baldness. In female pattern baldness:

    • Hair thins mainly on the top and crown of the scalp. It usually starts with a widening through the center hair part. This pattern of hair loss is known as Christmas tree pattern.
    • The front hairline remains unaffected except for normal recession, which happens to everyone as time passes.
    • The hair loss rarely progresses to total or near total baldness, as it may in men.
    • If the cause is increased androgens, hair on the head is thinner while hair on the face is coarser.

Itching or skin sores on the scalp are generally not seen.

    Treatment

Untreated, hair loss in female pattern baldness is permanent. In most cases, hair loss is mild to moderate. You do not need treatment if you are comfortable with your appearance.

    Hair Transplant

This procedure can be effective in females:

    • Who do not respond well to medical treatment
    • With no significant cosmetic improvement

Tiny plugs of hair are extracted from locations where the hair is thicker and implanted (transplanted) in balding areas during a hair transplant. Where hair has been removed, there may be slight scarring. A small chance of skin infection exists. You’ll probably require numerous transplants, which can be costly. However, the outcomes are frequently outstanding and long-lasting.

FAQs

What is done in plastic surgery?

What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve appearance and self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective.

Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. In general, reconstructive surgery is performed to improve function, but may also be completed to approximate a normal appearance.

Reconstructive surgery is typically covered by most health insurance policies, although coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary greatly.

If I have Botox or Restylane, how often would I need to repeat the injections?

Botox lasts about three to four months, and the treatment can be repeated as needed. When it wears off, you will begin to notice increased muscle action and some reformation of the wrinkles. It appears that with repeated use, the effect of Botox becomes longer lasting.

Restylane  injections last for about six months, and can also be repeated as needed.

How do I know what size breast implant is right for me?

The decision is based on a number of factors, including the patient’s desires, reasons for the surgery and overall health.

For example, are you doing it because you feel your breasts are too small relative to your body contour or are you unhappy with the size and firmness of your breasts following pregnancy, breastfeeding or major weight loss? Unevenness between the breasts can also be a motivating factor. Your surgeon can help you make the right decision during your pre-surgical appointment(s).
