 Skin Tightening

The creation of collagen and elastin is stimulated by radiofrequency, however the heat energy used is electrical rather than light-based.

IT TARGETS SAGGING SKIN

Because it is a non-invasive and generally mild method of skin tightening, radiofrequency is attractive:

“Radiofrequency (RF) is a procedure that has gained popularity in recent years that employs RF radiation to tighten the skin and heat the dermis without harming the top layer of the skin.”

In essence, radiofrequency tightens the underlying skin structure and shapes the face to produce skin that is toned, firm, and youthful-looking. In order to target loose skin around the neck and chin, wrinkles, and lines that form between the nose and mouth, radiofrequency is especially well-suited. This tightening, firming effect is brought about by increasing the production of collagen and elastin.

IT’S A LUNCH BREAK THING

After a standard radiofrequency treatment, which takes between 30 and 45 minutes on average, there is almost any downtime. Up to 24 hours later, you could have a tiny amount of redness, but that’s about it. A machine will heat the skin to a bearable 35 to 40 degrees throughout the process, however the majority of patients report little to no discomfort. However, some people are more susceptible than others to the intense heat.

IT CAN BE USED ON THE BODY TOO

A normal radiofrequency treatment typically lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, and there is very little downtime following it. There could be a tiny bit of redness for up to 24 hours following, but that’s about it. The skin will be heated by a machine to a comfortable 35 to 40 degrees, however the majority of patients report little to no discomfort throughout the process. But some people are more vulnerable to the intense heat than others.

The upper arms, upper and lower abs, inner and outer thighs, as well as other body parts, may all benefit greatly from the operation. Some attest to its success in reducing the appearance of cellulite as well. When used to treat the body, radiofrequency therapy is typically performed at a higher temperature.

Radiofrequency has the advantage of being safe for most people, and the depth of heating helps to tighten, lift, and firm the skin while also revitalising it for a beautiful complexion.

This “glow” is brought on by the steady stimulation of collagen production brought on by radiofrequency treatment.

FAQs

What is done in plastic surgery?

What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve appearance and self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective.

Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. In general, reconstructive surgery is performed to improve function, but may also be completed to approximate a normal appearance.

Reconstructive surgery is typically covered by most health insurance policies, although coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary greatly.

If I have Botox or Restylane, how often would I need to repeat the injections?

Botox lasts about three to four months, and the treatment can be repeated as needed. When it wears off, you will begin to notice increased muscle action and some reformation of the wrinkles. It appears that with repeated use, the effect of Botox becomes longer lasting.

Restylane  injections last for about six months, and can also be repeated as needed.

How do I know what size breast implant is right for me?

The decision is based on a number of factors, including the patient’s desires, reasons for the surgery and overall health.

For example, are you doing it because you feel your breasts are too small relative to your body contour or are you unhappy with the size and firmness of your breasts following pregnancy, breastfeeding or major weight loss? Unevenness between the breasts can also be a motivating factor. Your surgeon can help you make the right decision during your pre-surgical appointment(s).
